Academic Autopsy

What an Academic Autopsy Piece Looks Like (Sample Article)

Placeholder content demonstrating the Academic Autopsy template — not a real analysis, no real claims or sources.

Sample content. This article exists to demonstrate the template — swap it for a real piece before launch. See src/content/articles/README.md.

An Academic Autopsy piece takes one piece of neutral-looking language — a policy phrase, a statistic, a bureaucratic category — and cuts it open to show what it hides.

Structure this series tends to use

  1. Name the phrase or convention under inspection.
  2. Show where it shows up and who uses it.
  3. Trace what it assumes, and what it lets the reader skip past without noticing.
  4. Show what changes when the missing piece is restored.

A note on sourcing

Every real piece in this series needs actual citations and traceable sources — this sample deliberately has none, because it isn’t a real piece. Replace it before launch.
